Frequently Asked Questions
Your first session will consist of a full assessment. Firstly, I will ask lots of questions to help me to determine the source of your problem. Then I will look at you moving and carrying out some functional activities along with various clinical tests. How much I do in this part of the assessment will be dependent on your pain levels. By the end of the assessment, I will explain my findings and advise you on the best course of action and a plan for your treatment if necessary. If I do not think further physiotherapy is necessary I will of course advise you of this at this point.
What shall I Wear?
During your initial assessment, I will need to examine areas of your body adjacent to the problem area to ensure that nothing is missed that could be important. It is advisable to have suitable clothing for an assessment. For lower limb problems, a pair of shorts is usually best and for upper limb problems, a vest top which allows me to see the shoulders. For spinal conditions, the whole of the spine will need to be visible. This can be discussed in more detail when making an appointment.
What conditions are treated?
I specialise in musculoskeletal Physiotherapy - that is, any problem associated with your joints or muscles. Whether you suffer from a slight muscle ache or have experienced a sports injury, I have the knowledge and skills to provide you with solutions. I also treat long-term problems such as arthritis, and can work with you to restore your confidence and general function. If you have any queries at all about how physiotherapy may benefit your problem, please do not hesitate in contacting me. If all you need is some advice about your problem, I can give this over the phone free of charge so please give me a call.
Do I have to be referred?
There are many ways that you may seek Physiotherapy treatment. You may be referred by your GP however this is not necessary. The quickest and easiest way is to refer yourself! Just pick up the phone and contact me and I will ensure that you are seen as quickly as possible, at a time that is convenient to you. I am available throughout the whole week.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on the type of problem and its duration and will be discussed at your initial assessment. I firmly believe that if your symptoms do not show any signs of improvement within three to four sessions, your management plan will need to be reassessed. I strongly uphold ethical and professional practice and do not believe in continuing with treatment unless it is benefiting you! If you feel that you need further investigations, I will also do my best to refer you to an appropriate specialist within the area.
How do I pay?
Payment can be made by cheque or cash at the end of each session. Cheques should be made out to: Dr T K Foreman
If you are using your medical insurance, you just need to check first with them about payment
